About the event
Join the Extra Mile Playwrights Theatre as they host a staged reading of the historical play Hattie: A Seat At The Table written by Krystle Dellihue on Wednesday, March 26, at 6:000 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
The play is the second reading of EMPT’s “Rush Hour Read” series, which takes place every fourth Wednesday at sponsor Liv6’s Alliance Neighborhood Homebase located at 7426 West McNichols, Detroit, 48221.
“Hattie: A Seat At The Table" occurs on the night of the 12th Academy Awards. Hattie McDaniel, confronted with the injustice of segregation, must decide whether to boycott the ceremony in protest or claim her place in history as the first Black Oscar winner, a choice that will define her legacy and pave the way for future generations.
All of EMPT’s “Rush Hour Read” series are free and open to the public. You can find more information…
